Eufemia. It is believed that the founder was Hercules, who, on his way back from Spain (the Pillars of Hercules), stopped at the so-called Costa degli Dei. According to this legend, Tropea became one of Hercules&#8217; Ports.<\/p><p>However, the true history of Tropea begins in Roman times when, along the coast, Sextus Pompey defeated Caesar Augustus.
